Computer Vision and Robotics

Robots and artificial intelligence will play a huge role in running our buildings and serving our members in the near future. At each WeWork location, robots will accomplish tasks ranging from security inspection to coffee delivery. Robots will roam the floors of WeWork buildings to collect information such as space occupancy, to inspect the premises and facilities, and to detect and report irregular or unusual conditions or activities. Robots will greet people, answer their questions, and take visitors to offices and conferences. They will give tours to onsite and online visitors. They will also perform daily duties such as cleaning floors or re-arranging desks and chairs in common areas.

Are you looking to add real impact across many different communities and cultures with the work that you’re doing? Do you love exciting, dynamic environments? If so, we are looking for you. We are seeking an Applied Research Scientist: Computer Vision & Robotics.

You will apply ground breaking techniques in robotics, as well as in computer vision, image recognition, machine learning, sensor networks, real-time and distributed systems, to solve real-world challenges. Key responsibilities include conducting research in the abovementioned disciplines, collaborating with multi-functional engineering teams, and deploying robots to hundreds of buildings globally.

Key responsibilities:

  • You will design and conduct research in the field of workspace intelligence.
  • You will define applications for robotics, understand application needs and develop end-to-end solutions.
  • You will research, design, implement and evaluate novel algorithms in computer vision, localization and mapping, control, etc.
  • You will prototype scalable solutions and bring them to production and deployment.
  • You perform well under a high degree of uncertainty, and are able to find the intersection between academic research and commercially available solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. / M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • A publication record equal to education level
  • Knowledge in the fields of machine learning, computer vision, robotics.
  • Experience in developing and training neural network models.
  • Experience in C++ and Python (or other programming languages and scripting languages)
  • Excellent ability to communicate effectively to both technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Preferred qualifications: experience in CNNs, RNNs, motion planning, mapping and localization.
